Statement on Sept 17 Education & Health Committee

Richmond, VA - Today, Senate Democrats barred elected Senators from questioning witnesses in the Senate Education & Health Committee.

Let’s be clear: Government should never operate in the shadows. Senate Democrats should not silence elected Senators simply because they belong to the opposing party.

This hastily called committee was already questionable, especially since Law Enforcement Officials and representatives from the Jewish community were not invited to present.

We urge Senate Democratic leaders to immediately stop this unacceptable attempt to legislate in secrecy. A new committee should be convened where Law Enforcement and Jewish community representatives can present, and Senators can ask questions.

Virginia and our democracy deserve no less.
